Grandson loves this book
He likes that you can sniff the smells. The smells aren’t really strong enough to smell but he is three and tries to smell the items anyway.

Cute, colorful book but some of the smells are a bit "chemical" smelling
I got this book for my 7-year old son since he likes Paw Patrol & loves a scratch & sniff Christmas book we have, so I wanted to get him another scratch & sniff book. Well it's an enjoyable, colorful, short book for a quick read, but the smells were a bit disappointing in my opinion. (The smells are POPCORN, LEMON, VANILLA COOKIES, STRAWBERRY JELLY, & ROSES.) I chose this book over other scratch & sniff books on Amazon since the others I looked at had reviews complaining that the scents really had no smell to them or barely any smell. The smells in this book you CAN smell clearly. However, I felt some of them smelled more "chemical" than pleasing & fun...the popcorn scent was good I thought & smells just like popcorn & the strawberry jelly smell isn't bad either...those were good-smelling...but the lemon smell doesn't smell like lemons in my opinion...to me it smells exactly like a chemical lemon cleaner. My son didn't like the lemon smell either. It seriously smells like lemon-scented floor cleaner & not in a good way lol. And the vanilla cookie scent smells more like a cheap vanilla-scented candle rather than yummy-smelling vanilla cookies...which isn't a terrible thing for the scent sticker to smell like a vanilla candle...but again, I would've preferred more of a cookie smell for my son since it's supposed to be a cookie smell for kids to enjoy & not a "smells like a cheap vanilla candle smell" lol. The rose scent was also chemical-smelling & it didn't smell like roses at all or even like a flower (& I've smelled roses & plenty of flowers.) It was more like a cheap granny perfume smell...& not a good-smelling perfume lol. My son seems to enjoy the rose scent well enough so that's good, but it honestly smells to me like really cheap potpurri you'd get at the dollar store or something. So just be aware that a few of the scents may not be quite what you expect, but they DO smell. I gave it 4-stars since my son does like the book, it's colorful, durable, & because the scents all DID clearly smell when apparently other scratch & sniff books have gotten complaints for having no or little scent to them, & some of the scents in this book did smell just fine, so I still gave it a good rating. (It gave us a good laugh too when we smelled the lemons & roses and my son saw my face all grossed out by those scents lol!) We get a good laugh out of it every time we read it because of that. :) I just wanted to leave a review stating all the scents in the book & what they smelled like so someone knows before purchasing a $7 book that's pretty short. I purchased it & paid more for what I knew was a short book BECAUSE of the scratch & sniff aspect of it...that's the main reason I got it...for the extra fun of the scents...so I was a bit disappointed to be spending $7 on a small book, expecting the scents to smell more like the food/item they're representing in the book & not "chemical" smelling representations of them. (Also, be aware if you buy it that the smells are NOT on the big, red hearts on each page that say "Scratch & Sniff the yummy popcorn" etc. You'd THINK that's where the smells are going to be since that's right where it tells you to "scratch & sniff"...but as we realized, the scents aren't on the red hearts...they're instead under small, round clear stickers that you peel off on each page that are kind of hard to notice at first, but the clear stickers over the scents apparently work well to preserve the scents. Each scent where you scratch is on what it represents (the lemon scent is on a lemon, the popcorn scent is on a box of popcorn, the rose scent is on one of the roses in the rosebush, etc.) So I can see where someone might think "these don't smell" if you don't find the actual clear stickers where the scents are & peel off the stickers to get to the scent underneath. Our other scratch & sniff book didn't have that. I still feel it's a cute book for Valentine's Day & the most important thing is that the scent stickers DID smell at least! :)
