Cool, sharp, but you get what you pay for
The 8cr13mov steel isn't the greatest steel to begin with but this IS a Chinese product therefore you get Chinese quality. It's a flipper and it was smooth but after a week of I'd say moderate use more fidgeting then use. After the week I had to retighten nuts. Not terribly huge deal. (I did open and close it about 8000 times) the liner lock failed and got stuck uses a screw driver to fix it but the lock allows the blade to close. Good knife for looks or light use more of a collector knife than usable. I purchased a spyderco manix 2 to replace this one.

This is a Great Knife!
I have a spring assist knife on which the spring broke, rendering the assist action useless. I wouldn't want that to happen when I really needed a knife. I decided to search for a ball bearing assist knife, knowing that it would be reliable. I wanted the longest tanto folder I could find with a good grip. The Vortek did more than meet my requirements. I have a DeWalt ball bearing assist knife. When I flip the flipper, the blade normally flies out to about 3/4 open, and then just a slight flick of the wrist locks the blade into place. I was expecting the same sort of action with the Vortek, but to my surprise, when I flip it, the blade flies out and locks into place each and every time. The knife itself is very well made - simple, aesthetic, slender, and wicked. The long handle fits well within my grasp, and the material provides a good, non-slip grip.I made this sheath for my Vortek:

VORTEK Ball Bearing Pivot System Folding Flipper Pocket Knife
This is a really nice budget knife. I wanted a tanto blade with G10 scales and this fit the bill. The flipping action is super smooth like that of my CJRB knives. The 8Cr13MOV blade is actually razor sharp and perfectly centered on this particular knife. The pocket clip is a design I've never seen before, it has a ball clip like pocket pens and works really good for securing the knife in your pocket. The handle is a bit on the wide side but not uncomfortable, it adds better stability for cutting. The overall knife is slightly on the narrow side but this is by no means a deal breaker. The small piece of paper that comes with it explains the importance of lubricating the pivot points on the knife and it's written in proper English telling me this isn't complete Chinese garbage. Overall I'm happy with this purchase and I would buy more Vortek knives.

Nice Knife, but Intimidating
I like the look and feel of this knife, but honestly it feels "dangerous".It is slender and elegant. It looks super sharp. But, I feel like I am going to cut myself every time I open it. The ergonomics seem not quite right. The locking mechanism does not seem very secure, and the entire frame/handle seems too thin, bordering on flimsy. There is not block or support on the back of the knife or the middle of the handle between the two ends. When you open it up, there is no support in the middle of the knife - just a gaping hole that runs the entire length of the handle. I would not use this knife for any serious purpose - might be ok for cutting paper, lightweight cardboard, or string.A nice looking and elegant knife, but I would not recommend for every day carry.

Best flipper I own.
The flipper mechanism on this knife is perfect. You have to try it to believe it. This is a small, light knife with a wonderful 3 5/8 tanto blade made from 8Cr13MoV steel - an excellent choice for an inexpensive EDC knife. It is easy to sharpen and a 1000 grit stone leaves it razor sharp and once sharpened, an occasional 8 passes on the steel brings it right back. It opens blister packs and cuts twine like it's not there.

Slick little demon of a knife.
This is a solid, sweet knife. It's smaller than I expected but the stout narrow profile and wicked tanto point make it a terrific and versatile EDC. It came razor sharp and a few licks with a Blade Medic lights it back up when needed. I've had $200 knives that were built like this.

Best bang for your buck.
I've bought 3 other vortek knives and they are very impressive. They hold a great edge and the quality is excellent. The action on these knives even though not assisted is silky smooth. I honestly can't help but getting a new one every couple of months. Don't doubt them because they are priced low they are great knives.
