Whatever the age of the reader, this retreat is a great place to grow closer to Jesus through his devoted mother Mary. Mary's last words in the Gospel at the wedding feast of Cana seem fitting: 1 On the third day there was a wedding in Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. 2 Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding. 3 When the wine ran short, the mother of Jesus said to him, "They have no wine." 4 [And] Jesus said to her, "Woman, how does your concern affect me? My hour has not yet come." 5 His mother said to the servers, "Do whatever he tells you." -John 2:1-5 Mary desires lead us to Jesus today, just as she wished to lead us to her son almost two thousand years ago. At Cana, she was concerned with helping out the wedding couple by interceding with Jesus. Jesus granted his mother's request, even though his 'hour' had not come. Mary is just as concerned with interceding for each of us with her son today. Imagine the great things Jesus could to do in our lives if we took Mary's advice, as the servers did, and did whatever he told us. Similar to Gaitley's "Consoling the Heat of Jesus," which enjoys a perfect five-star rating on each and every one of its 31 customer reviews at desertcart.com at the time of this post, the appendices are phenomenal in this book! They provide excellent information on Marian prayers & devotions. I hope you get the opportunity to discover this treasure! Thanks for reading. Very realistic to keep up with
Great book for Marian consecration. It’s very easy to read and each day only ask for about 1-2 pages of reading, so very realistic to read and keep up with when you are in a busy season of life! Would recommend! Starting on 11/29 and plan to end on 1/1 for the new year!

Wonderful and worthy read
This wonderful book is an approachable way, and perhaps an introduction to St. Louis de Monfort, to consecrate oneself to our Queen and Holy Mother, Mary. This book is so great, I purchased seven copies and shared them with the women in my family so we can go through this retreat together. Two are in college and one has an infant so they are very short on time. The format, taking only a few minutes of reading per day and the ability to catch up if a day is missed, allows these very busy young ladies to join us. Furthermore, Gaitley breaks the devotional prayer up into sections and provides meaning and impact. There is power when we pray together. Bible tells us, “Where two or three are gathered, I am there among them”. Even if you are reading this on your own, you are not alone as many others are going through or have already been through this retreat.

This book will change your life
Having done the St. Louis de Montfort consecration, I felt something was missing, as it was hard for me to relate to all the litanies and prayers. This book was the solution to that problem. I had done a renewal of my consecration using this book on my own, and have since led two parish groups through the same process, although we did not use the whole program...just this book. Each time I read it, I take a different approach. One time I chose a word or phrase and meditated on that through the day. Another time, I kept a short journal and wrote about the meaning that day's reading had in my life at that time. I love the different saints' viewpoints on Mary and each has a very loving and warm relationship with her. There were some really deep concepts and ideas in the book, but Fr. Gaitley does a great job of going slowly and explaining them a little at a time. I met him in person at the Divine Mercy Conference in the Bronx in April and was struck by his joy and humility. He said in the book that he was inspired to write the book and it was done rather quickly. It doesn't read like something that was put together with haste, but rather is well-organized and gives very thorough explanations. I received many positive comments from both my groups, although we didn't meet as a group. It was just knowing that others in our parish were going through the same consecration preparation and that we were all praying for one another. I often thought that Mary and I had nothing in common....she was perfect, I am not...she's a mother, I am not...but she has a beautiful lesson to teach all women (and men!) regardless of their age or state in life. Perhaps her most beautiful words were those she said at the Wedding Feast of Cana, which pretty much sums up the life of a Christian..."Do whatever He tells you."

I can recommend this book to everyone who wants to make a consecration to Mary. The author explains Marian consecration according to the model of great Marian saints such as Kolbe, John Paul the II, mother Teresa and Marie de Montfort, at the end one can choose a consecration formula which is most appealing to him/her. It also explains how one can live out his/her consecration by providing many resources of Marian devotions, book recommendations etc.
