What are the sizes????! Capacity? The mesh cell pitch? Is it good to make cottage cheese without cheese cloth?

Approximately holds 2 qt. and I have never made cottage cheese, so I don't know that answer specifically but the mesh is quite fine.

Is the mesh fine enough to work with rice?

I purchased this to wash rice. Works very well

is there a way to prevent the rust that is in the review pictures?

It arrived in that condition 🙁

Does this come in a box that I can wrap as a gift?

As I recall, it came in an Amazon box with a few other items that I ordered. It was not in its own box.
