Certainly better than the original antenna
This antenna fits very nicely on a Baofeng UV-6R. I have only used it for receive so far but it allows the radio to pick up signals that the original rubber-duck cannot - although at 5 times the length why wouldn't it! I like the fact that the balun can be unscrewed from the tape-antenna. This makes it easier to align and fit the balun first to the radio without straining the thread on the radio, and then the tape-antenna can be screwed into the balun. This should mean I can screw a long wire into the balun to obtain even greater range. As I use the radio as a back up on a boat it could be useful if the mast-top antenna fails as I could then hoist a wire and plug it into the balun.
