Does not work for rabbits
I know that rabbits are not classified as rodents, but they do burrow and are very destructive. I originally bought this product because I was hoping that it would be a snake repellent as indicated on the box. If it does not work on rabbits I doubt very much if it will work on snakes. It may work on moles but I have to say I am very disappointed. I have to admit although I was not pleased with the Sonic Deterrent Mole Stopper, I was completely impressed with the customer service of this company, thus the five stars. I did try their outdoor solar lanterns and I was amazed at the reality of the "flaming light".

A waste of time and money
Do not waste your time or money on these. I’ve used them for over a month now, and gophers are still digging holes all around them. I bought eight of these things and place them within close proximity of each other. Unfortunately, the return window has closed for me. I’d offer to sell you mine at half price, but I can’t knowingly rip somebody off like that.

An effective product for ground squirrel control
These solar-powered ultrasonic repellant sticks REALLY work! We have a healthy population of ground squirrels around our property that we wish to keep away from our house and barn. We won't use rodenticides as these are not only cruel but can cause other species to be poisoned (owls, hawks, foxes, badgers, and other predators who eat rodents). I have been using these devices successfully every summer. It's important to make sure they are in a place that gets sunlight all day, of course, and install the stake portion deep enough into the ground as the directions state. They make a gentle beep sound periodically that's only audible when you are close to the device (15' or less? very approximate measurement). For effective, safe ground squirrel control, these devices are the best!

Effective but fragile
After traps, chemicals, and smoke bombs failed to solve our mole problem, I was ready to try sonic repellants, but with low expectations. After two months, I am pleased to say they help a lot. In areas where moles refuse to leave, treatment with castor oil and detergent in addition to the sonic repellers chases them away. The devices are simple and easy to use. When things are quiet, even with the windows closed, the noise from 8 of them around the house is faintly audible, but not annoying. My only complaint is the fragility of these devices. They look robust in the pictures, but are surprisingly light weight. I tried installing them by hand after a rainstorm, but found that they only penetrated our sandy New England soil about 3 inches. Wiggling or twisting them to get more penetration was a mistake. The solar heads are fragile and it is easy to break the seal where they join the stake. It is imperative to make a properly sized hole for these devices that they can be dropped into easily. Installed flush with the ground, they seem to be safe from lawn mowing, but I am still careful to avoid wheel contact. It is not clear whether it will be better to leave them in place this winter or remove and reinstall them in the spring. Either way, I will be using them again next year, because they work.

Effective, perhaps, but ANNOYING BEEP
Like: Easy to install and startup. Has built-in Solar panel for power.Dislike: As others have reviewed---ANNOYING AUDIBLE BEEP. Every 30 seconds, the tone (400 Hz) to deter the underground pests is loud enough to hear above ground for two-legged creatures. It's annoying.Sooooo...with my understanding of electronics and audio I installed shall we say, a "suppressor" to reduce the above ground noise/tone.Here's how to do it: go to Costco or your favorite beverage store and buy a strawberry sundae, iced tea, soda pop, beer, whatever, in a CLEAR plastic cup, and consume it. Yum. Rinse out the cup, place it upside down on top of the rodent repeller as far down as it will go, and ensure the inverted cup makes contact with the soil. If it doesn't touch the soil, you need to push the rodent repeller further into the dirt. Pack the dirt around the bottom of the cup. Now look what you've done:1. Suppressed the annoying 400 Hz beep above ground, and not underground---barely heard2. You still get the solar panel to function through the plastic cup3. Made your complaining family members able to go in the back yard for a BBQ againHope it works for you. I am still evaluating the effectiveness of the product. Gimme 3 more weeks.

They worked for me.
These really worked for me. We have a new home in a new wooded development. There were hundreds of annoying chipmunks, and ground moles all over our lawn. I didn't want to kill them so I tried capturing and transporting them away and they either found their way back or others moved in. I saw these online and figured I had nothing to lose. After one season no ground moles and the chipmunks have disappeared except for one occasionally passing through. I also used to kill 6 to 8 grass snakes a year I have no idea if they were effected but I only had one and the beginning of last season and none so far this year. I have 8 of these spread out around the perimeter that I leave out all year and the buzzing can be annoying so I turn them off midsummer.

Worked for 2 weeks only!
I bought a set of four for my backyard lawn, which is about 60 ft by 45ft. Given the recommended range of the devices, a set of four would be more than enough for that area of lawn. The devices were easy to install. They seemed to work to deter the moles for a few days. Then, the moles were back. I moved the devices around a bit, which helped for a few more days. However, after about 2 weeks of use, the moles are as active as they were before I installed the devices. In addition, of the four devices quit working entirely after about 10 days. I really wanted these to work, but I cannot recommend them.

Good bye Moles
We had what seemed to be like a herd of moles burrowing under our lawn and tried the stuff you spread on lawn to kill the grubs that the moles eat etc...and yet they still ruined our front lawn etc. These things worked...can get a little annoying when it is quiet out but small price to pay for being able to have a decent lawn, and without the poisons.
