Wonderful Story
The book came quickly and in good condition. I LOVE this story and wish I had known about it years ago while I was still teaching. I don't like spoilers so I won't tell the plot but it has great life's lessons, adventure, morals, and no political agenda. It's an easy read but still has some challenging words and it's short enough to be an enjoyable read-aloud.

Older, but goodie! Great for all ages, especially at Christmas!
This book tackles some tough themes -- great expectations of parents and kids, handicaps, making a challenge into a triumph. It was one of the first to show many levels in a childrens' story. My adult book club read it for Christmas and enjoyed it thoroughly. I have read it with 4th through high school. In addition, you learn some medieval history easily as well as culture and customs.

Great book!
Great book. A timeless classic.Perfect for kids with a high reading level, but who are not old enough to be reading young adult novels.

Wordy
I felt it was a little wordy for my third grader as i flipped through it. We haven't read it together yet and I'm looking forward to doing so, as it was highly recommended, but I'm sure it'll take us a while to get through it even though it's a small book because it's wordy.

The Door in the Wall by Marguerite DeAngeli
This is an absolutely outstanding book, both because it is a great story and because it is so well written. It is one of the books that I have read aloud to many children, and it is as interesting to the adult as to the child (age 6-12). Robin, the young lad in this Mideaval tale, has lost the use of his legs from a wasting fever, and as he was supposed to join the household of a family friend as a squire, he feels that life has stopped for him. The monk who has cared for him in his illness, assured him that there is always a door in the wall, and encourages Robin to find it. The rest of the story is an adventure as Robin grows in both heart and skill, and finds that he is indeed able to find the door.

A winning children's book for sure!
This is what real children's books are made of. The positive approach to adversity and the child appropriate material is refreshing even to and adult!

The Door in the Wall
I had read the book earlier and very much enjoyed it, but the graphics were only so-so. The earlier edition graphics are much better. I really appreciated that. The book arrived in exactly the condition they specified and in a timely manner. Thank you very much.

Enjoy books on tape, however, not exactly what I was looking for as far as the narrator. Wish there had been some way of finding out who the narrator was before ordering.
