A true faerie tale
Although a few plot hooks could be given to ease the transition from adventure to adventure, and some information regarding the Free City of Zobecks (for ones who aren't familiar with Midgard), as with any Kobold Press product this one is just superb. The forest is alive with mysterious and creepy elements, favouring between its inhabitants. The adventures feel quite sandboxy with a lot of options and outcomes, and what's more, in most of them diplomacy and dilemma or tactical planning are highly encouraged since the challenges of mindlessly fighting your way through the forest are beyond deadly.A thing I really loved about this product was that many locations in the forest are given (that aren't part of all the adventures) but for each a few paragraphs and an "Interesting Plot Hook" are tossed in, this is the perfect aid for dungeon masters to spark their imagination and cook their own ideas into unique adventures across all the Margreve. The fast progression (1 level for adventure + travelling) feels pretty good considering most of the adventures are short and independant. I can't wait to run this :)

Creepy Forest Adventures Await You
A big fan of Kobold Press and this one does not disappoint. The adventures alone are good enough for the price, but you also get new races and class options. I especially liked the first adventure with the creature collecting heads. Creepy! It had a Ravenloft feel to it. It helps if you have their other creature source books to fully enjoy it.

Good book, but two issues
Really nice book and incredibly creative. I am looking forward to playing this. Two problems. First, the map in the back of the book tore when I tried to remove it. The adhesive actually ripped a chunk off of the map, which I then had to repair with tape (not ideal).Second, I thought--and this may be my mistake--that Margreve was setting agnostic, but it's not. It is set in the Kobold campaign world (Midgard?) so there are a lot of unfamiliar monsters whose stats I do not have. Apparently these are in other Kobold sourcebooks.Kobold makes great stuff, and I will continue to buy their products.

Good but not perfect
There are a lot of good things here, but this feels like an unfinished book. There is one adventure where the numbering for all the rooms is off, which isn't difficult to figure out, but the map for that adventure is also missing doors on the map. The DM can just put them where he/she wants, but it seems like these kinds of things should have been caught during proofreading. Also, the ties from each adventure to the overall forest temperament feel slapped on and not completely thought out. Again, the DM can just tweak this but it feels incomplete. In addition, the book often refers to other books (Creature Codex, Tome of Beasts) for monster stats. So either you need those books too or you will need to substitute monsters with whatever stats from other books you have. Lots of new monsters are provided, but the descriptions are often lacking, they just put a picture there for you to come up with your own descriptions. (There are descriptions buried in the adventure so you can flip back and forth). And the references to other midgard politics mean that you need other Kobold books that I don't even know.So lots of things that annoy me, but also lots of great content. As a DM you constantly have to adapt material to your campaign so there is still a ton of good stuff here.

Sehr hilfreich
