When we received this gate it had 2 broken hinges. We contacted Cardinal Gates and immediately received a new gate. Best customer service ever!! It is one of the best gates we have purchased, fitting across a wide span, wide walk thru gate with self closing feature, easy to install and very sturdy.

Mine arrived damaged during shipping. The box containing the gate was inside another box and somehow the shipper managed to crush through 2 layers of carefully packaged parts and broke a bottom hinge. This company's customer service is FANTASTIC! I called them and they sent the part out immediately.Aside from that, it's also a very nice gate. The latch for the gate is nice and easy to open with one hand which is a plus when your other hand is holding a leash attached to an 80 lb boxer and you're only 5'3" lol. This gate is very similar to a baby gate in the house that is another brand with a very similar latch where there is the latch but then also a backup thumb lever you need to push, still super easy to open both with one hand.I haven't had it long enough to see how it holds up to weather but it covered the 66 inch opening on my deck stairs, keeping the toddler AND the dog on the deck. It's a win-win, I love it.

This gate was made very cheaply. My two year old has learned how to open it. It’s supposed to have adjustable features but it doesn’t let you lock them in some my 1 and 2 year old move it all around.

My 3rd attempt at gating 90" gap at top of patio steps - wish I had found this gem the first time. Love that it is metal (instead of fiber board) and black and solidly built. No wall to attach it to - stands up on its own and easily made super stable with black wire to railing posts (also a dab of glue on two center suction cups to cement). No problem for birds and squirrels but keeps neighbor's idiot dog off my patio and raccoons just peer in. Self closes well or stays open (both directions) if preffered. Guests have trouble pushing button and simultaneously lifting to open, but I appreciate the secure close. Also - appreciate 1/4"(?) space along bottom so leaves/debri easily wash out under gate. Love this gate!

Our first gate came broken, we returned it next day and ordered a replacement and it came in a couple days. Took about 30 minutes to install but it’s great for us! We use it to keep dogs out of our second living room. We love that it automatically closes behind you too! Definitely recommend this brand!

Update: Cardinal Gates reached out and provided free replacement parts. Happy to simply replace it and not have the gate go to a landfill. Gate is still doing okay a couple of weeks later. As noted originally, really liked the gate and continue to with a new working latch. Raising the rating from 1 to 4.===Original review: For awareness, really liked the gate - however - after 3 weeks of light use the latch broke (plastic part, see pictures). Contacted Cardinal Gates customer support (customerservice@cardinalgates.com) directly, explained the situation, providing evidence of purchase date. While they did respond quickly, they said $11 for repair parts. Asked and confirmed, yes - They would prefer that the whole gate be returned to Amazon (and junked) rather than do the better thing and provide repair parts for free given the time frame, doing the repair myself. Throw Away versus Repair - how wasteful and wrong-headed.

The media could not be loaded. This is easily the best child gate you can buy. It's sturdy and customizable. You can even attach two gates together with tek screws and furniture if you are creative. Worth every penny! I've bought 4 already and will be buying another for up stairs. If you are between baby/pet gates... just buy this one.... you will not be diappointed!!! If it's not big enough you can buy extension pieces that go together without sacrificing sturdiness. The one in front of the TV had 2 extensions.
