When I was searching for a book with an in depth insight on the life of a woman who gave everything serving God's will in loving and caring for the poor. I checked the local library and discovered the author, Father Joseph Langford, was a co-founder of the Missionary of Charity Fathers. I flipped to the inside back cover and seeing Father Joseph holding hands with Mother Teresa. I knew immediately this was the book for the opportunity to learn how Mother Teresa lived her life.Little did I know six week after checking the book out from the Library, I would meet his youngest sibling on a train bound for LA the morning of his brother's funeral. I shockingly learned of Father Joseph passing. On this day, October 20th, 2010, I met a stranger who put his trust in me by asking me if I wanted to attend and witness the funeral of his oldest brother, Joseph, in Tijuana Mexico (recognized as western Calcutta).Mother Teresa's Secret Fire is well written by Father Joseph. It's disappointing this book can only be found here on Amazon, Catholic Bookstores and some libraries. You won't find a copy in your local Barnes and Noble. I personally have purchased over two dozen copies to hand out to others. I recommend you take your time in reading and revisit the chapters with an open heart.

if she was willing to entrust such important, and difficult, insights to someone as cheesy and emotionally tone deaf as this author.The content, not only her interior light and life, but the nature of God's love and the dark night of the soul, is wonderful and very important. TDNOS is not aridity, but the very intense absence of God from someone acquainted with his tender presence, the inner knowledge of sin's cold, darkness that compassion generally hides from us to keep us from despair. It needs to be better understood, and this book competently, from the intellectual point of view, lays this out.Emotionally, it could hardly be more off-key at times. Anyone truly seeking God is not going to be as much of a spiritual, and worldly, status-seeker as the author betrays himself to be. Anyone bathed in the loving intimacies of light, would share that light with the reader, not stand on a tin podium and discourse about it.However flawed the messenger, the message is an important gift.

Mother Teresa is one of the most fascinating contemporary figures in the Catholic Church. This book helps readers come to a deeper understanding of what motivated Mother Teresa to take on the task of going into the streets of Calcutta to love and serve the poorest of the poor. It's an exhortation for all of us to open our hearts to the passionate and infinite love that God has for each one of us. Her relationship with Jesus, her willingness to say "yes" to Jesus no matter what He asked of her, was deeply rooted in an encounter she had with him while on her way to an annual retreat.

This is a good book to read slowly. I paused at places where spiritual life was deeply expressed.

This is excellent for anyone to read, contemplate and transform their life for the better! Hope many people have this book in their home. It is and YOU are worth it!

The true story of Mother Teresa's Secret Fire is a must read regardless of one's religious or political view of this Nun's dedication to her personal calling to spend her life dedicated to the healing and loving of the poor. Reading the book is a life changing experience. There is no "sermon" that we should have the same committment or dedication, but one cannot help but be compelled to at least be willing to examine one's own personal view of poverty, illness, and personal dignity and worth in one's own life and the life of others.

This book is so profound I have trouble even beginning to describe it. It has touched me in a deep and lasting way. The wisdom contained in this book has helped me to understand things I never could grasp before. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to deepen their relationship with God. Simply inspirational! It needs to be read over and over again to truly internalize the wisdom of the lessons it contains.

Very repetitive and repeats the same anecdote numerous times over and over again. Wanted to love this one, but felt like a book about such a profound topic would have much greater depth and breadth around it than it did.
