Big Bang for Buck in Sturdy, Strong, Simple Tabletop Tripod
As much as I like my Fotobetter LBH-25 ball head, a compact ball head clone of a similar RRS ball head, I decided I'd like another but slightly larger one for use as a head for my Bogen monopod. But, nothing larger from Fotobetter was to be found, and the Neewer compact ball head was the closest affordable alternative I could find. But, when I saw the ball head was available as this tabletop tripod for only $8 more, the decision to get the combo was a no-brainer and I'm so very happy with the purchase. I have several Oben TT-100 tabletop tripods with an even smaller ball head that I use for lighting, clamps, smaller/lighter cameras, etc. and find them extremely handy, so buying something a bit more robust that might work with my heavier Nikon D850 DSLR seemed like it should also be very handy. This tripod is solid! And the strength of the ball head is excellent for its size. I very much like the two-position height adjustment of the tripod for a bit added versatility, opting for the low position if the greatest stability is desired. The ball head, being a single lever design is not so much designed for panning since releasing the lever enough to pan also reduces grip on the ball and thus the camera position, but I expected that so no problem there. The important thing was the holding power of the ball head and with 11.4 lbs. of camera, lens, gimbal, and QR plates configured and mounted on it, it held! The caveat there is that was with the gimbal mounted in an upright position as it is intended to be used, given that gimbal heads are more commonly used as a direct head replacement. But, I put a QR plate on my gimbal for speed of interchangeability, so the weight it contributes to the overall package is going to give a ball head a good test, and this one passed. If I deliberately tilt the gimbal off center, the ball head will only hold the total weight if the ball head is strongly locked down with the lever....and that is possible, but just not how I'd typically use a ball head. Take off the gimbal/plate and the package drops to 9 pounds which with use of the lens plate for mounting with a better center of gravity, finds the ball head easily secures the camera and lens at any angle with a more typical "firm tightening" of the clamping lever. So, overall I have nothing but praise for this relatively light, compact tabletop tripod & ball head. The aesthetics of it are nice too, and although no straps are provided for use with the slotted legs, at least the slots are there to extend the versatility in how the tripod might be used or secured, while 1/4-20 threaded holes accommodate mounting small accessories on the legs. The tripod is easily, easily worth the added cost over the ball head alone. As I wrap this up, I realized I should remove the QR plate from my Neewer gimbal and mount it directly to the tripod...sure enough, another excellent combination. In general, I'd be using the gimbal on a larger tripod, but for anyone who may be able to take advantage of a gimbal yet needs a low profile support, this tripod looks as though it should work wonderfully, as long as you don't need adjustable legs to accommodate uneven surfaces.Great bang for the buck!

Great small companion for any shoot.
I'm a fan of tripods and always carry one around. I was looking for a small one that can be sturdy enough that can be use also as a base for my gimbal stabilizer. As comparing prices and features I found this Neewer and it is incredible, with great features at a great price. Construction is in metal, matte black textured finish, the ball head only have 1 knob but it is very stable and strong. It have a bubble level, and the feature that I love the most is that have a mini Arca Swiss plate, it is small but can hold other regular plates as well. The only con that I found is that the legs only open & locks in 2 positions, you can decide which of the 2 via rotation a dial located in the middle of the ball head and the legs. Have rubber feet and 1/4 inch screw holes in each of the legs. I'm really happy with this tripod and it will be a permanent companion of my cameras.

Great unit, but question its longevity
After a couple hours of review I selected this tripod, primarily for the ball head with arca-Swiss plate. Few others had this option at this price. It's a bit heavy, but that makes it sturdy. At 15 ounces it’s weight is noticeable. The heft adds to its stability, but most people will not want to pocket nearly a pound of metal. I knock off a star because it’s made of cast metal, which is cheap to manufacture and subject to fractures unlike a solid aluminum. The leg adjustment mechanism is pretty basic, with the lower leg setting accomplished by having the legs set into notches in the collar ring. The tolerances on my copy was off a bit so one of the legs always took more force to set into the collar notches than the others. I am impressed by the rubber feet, which make a secure connection with a flat clean surface like a tabletop. Two of the threaded holes in the legs allowed threading, but one of the holes would need tapping for a smooth fit—sloppy threads is another downside of cast metal. The claim of 17+ pound capacity must be in relation to centered weight. I set up a mirrorless camera with a small prime lens, on top of 1 pound windup equatorial mount and had to really crank on the ball adjusting knob to get it to lock and not drift in an off center position under the 3.5 pound load. The compressed metal that encircled the ball was at its limit. Having the ability to drop the head into portrait position is handy, but on a measured level surface I couldn’t quite get the plate to 90°—very close, but not 90°. Not a deal breaker by itself, but I would be straightening when processing. With 90% of my photos take in landscape orientation this shortcoming is not a big deal. The top plate is well made and I like the amount of tension it provides. The built in level tested accurate. The included removable plate is pretty lightweight and I wouldn’t put it on a camera/lens weighing over a few pounds. Like the rest of the tripod the cast metal feels brittle. I’d be worried the plate, given time, would break under the pressure of the clamp and torque caused by an off-center camera.I really wish this were cut from aluminum stock and not cast, and that the adjustments were a little more refined. I would pay an extra $30 for that model.

Great for steady close up photos
Great product! I tried other tripods for tight product shots, and had issues with movement . This is a great value and holds the camera tight without movement in any of the adjustments.

Pretty darned sturdy for such a small package
Using for small camera and very large/heavy spotting scope. If you're trying to digi-scope with the spotting scope, it is too light - lot of shake for trying to snap a picture. But if you just want it for looking through, it works fine. For the large/heavy scopes, the legs will need to be placed at maximum splay to insure stability. This makes for a very low mount which works for me as I have a scope with an angled eyepiece and I'm usually using off of a bench. For the smaller camera, it's dead solid. Have not tried it with a heavy SLR, just with a larger point and shoot.

Fantastic for Mirrorless / action cameras
Used this on a variety of cameras, and also used to hold a 360 camera when capturing a night lapse. Quality is fantastic, and this always travels with me due to its portability yet wide footprint for such a small tripod

This is the Tripod you're looking for.
If you are looking for a mini tripod and don't expect to be hanging your camera from tree branches the majority of the time. Then this is the tripod you want. This thing makes the manfrotto pixi evo 2 (stupid name) look like (and function like) a Fisher Price pre-school toy.. frankly this will fit better in any bag or pocket as well. The ball head is removable, which is great because it is way better functionally than the Manfrotto 49x series.. and i will use it instead on my full height tripod. Which is incredible because they do it with only the one tension bolt. A 15 deg loosening holds the ball snug while giving smooth panning motion another 10 deg gives smooth tilt while still holdong the ball through a panning motion. If i had to buy again and this was more than the Manfrotto i would still pick it, as it stands it is 40-50% less.

Mini treppiedi Neewer
