Best Dashcam if you don't mind the mirror shaking
The one I bought was RX8W DOD Rearview Mirror Dashcam. It's easy to install. It's discreet and won't attract thieves. It looks really cool and simple to navigate the menu. It has great low light performance for night time. The only downside to this product is that the mirror will vibrate/shake alot on the road. You'll still be able to see cars behind you but you just won't be able to read license plate numbers since it's vibrating/shaking too much. Other than that this rearview mirror dashcam is absolutely great.

If someone knows better or maybe it's just the unit I received please ...
The camera is exactly what I was looking for in a dash camera, however the only flaw is that there is no use of the mirror at night. If you flip the mirror tab to night you have no center rear view mirror. ( I've adjusted it both ways as maybe it was me, nothing better). The only way I could fix this and still use it was I bought 35% tint and tinted it. I'm no longer blinded at night and during the day I can see someone is behind me.The camera does its job but it's as rear view mirror it lacks, as I had to home brew a fix that's why it got the 3 stars. If someone knows better or maybe it's just the unit I received please let me know, then this unit would be 5 stars.

Great dash camera... but could use some improvements.
I bought this dash camera on the 11th of February. It is now the 22nd of February and so far everything is working very nice. This is my second camera and I really like the quality and design of the product.Pros;Discreet (vs a traditional camera)Cannot see the screen when the screen is offUnobtrusive light and back lite keysGreat picture quality (not the best but definitely 1080p quality which should be the standard in 2016)Long enough cable to route throughout car. I drive a 1994 Jeep Cherokee and I had about two feet or so of cable that needed to be tired up and hid after I ran the initial cable.Easy to use menuCons;Camera protrudes far which might be a negative towards its discreteness. Is not that much of an issue from the outside looking in.Size, this camera is big. Bigger than I initially thought. Keeping that in mind, it may be easier to spot from the outside to a trained eye. Also the bigger mirror means you can see more behind you (a pro)Night quality could be betterWhen playing bass -y type music the mirror shakes a lot. This is probably because of my sub wooferMounting system. There needs to be a better way to mount the mirror other than strapping it to the rear view mirror. The system does mount okay and has NOT fallen off but because of the lack of padding or dampening material it shakes a lot when I drive over bumps and rough roads. All in all, this camera is way better than the one I previously purchased. My con section should not steer you away from this product. It is a good camera for the money and will not disappoint.

Can't replace Lithium Ion battery
Beware! I bought this device in 2015. There is an internal battery in this device. It no longer holds a charge and probably ready to explode/catch fire. Tech Support did not respond to my emailed questions about opening the case and replacing the battery.I think I will have report the battery problem to the FTC and force a product recall. Finally, because of the battery not holding a charge I could not produced the MOV file in an incident today for police evidence. The mov was corrupted because I turned off the ignition. The battery was supposed to keep recording in 3 minute intervals. The corrupted file had about 1 minute of video and no end-of-file.Today, you should probably buy a dashcam with a built in capacitor.

additional weight (300 gr) produce VIBRATIONS of the rearview mirror in my car
RX8WThe cam is ok BUT in my small car (european Mitsubishi Colt) the additional weight (300 gr) produce VIBRATIONS of the rearview mirror dash on road. Very annoying to look through a shaking mirror. I think that in other cars with bigger oe mirror this problem may not be present

The velcro wraps can't hold the mirror firmly and steadily ...
The velcro wraps can't hold the mirror firmly and steadily so it vibrates while driving. Should make it a quick removal and mechanically fixed to to the car's mirror to fix the vibration problem. The use of tie and lock mechanism from a tool box should definitely work for the purpose.

Works great, love it
Works great, love it! Video quality is amazing.Make sure you buy a microSD memory card since it doesn't come with one or else you will not be able to record. DOD's site has a few they recommend to use.
