ACT Pacing Digital Timer and Watch by Testing Timers

I bought one of these for my son who recently had to take the ACT test. The watch was designed with exactly how it should be. It counts down the time in each section - with specific sections for English, Math, Reading, etc.The track is really genious. There is a really cool track that runs around the perimeter that tells you exactly where you are in the section - for example, in the English section there are 5 readings. I uploaded a photo which shows the watch with about 18 minutes left the visual indicator that we should have already completed at least 3 of the readings. In the actual test, when my son was in the fourth ready and glanced at the watch - he quickly saw that he was where he should be - he was on pace - which was very calming to him.My son and his 3 friends that used this watch all increased their scores in at least 3 sections over their prior times taking the ACT. Was it because the watch helped them keep pace or was it because they were calmer about the test because they had practiced with the watch? Actually, I really don't care. Their scores went up and their stress level was much lower.When I bought it, I was not sure if it would be allowed in the test. No only was it allowed in the test, but there was just an ABC news article where they interviewed ACT and ACT said that the watch was ok since it does not light up and does not make noise.

I am a tutor and test prep coach. I read about this product in a Tutor Ted study guide. Out of curiosity, I bought one for myself. I liked it, and it was easy to use, so I recommended this watch/test timer to the students in my April 9 ACT prep group. Ultimately, only one student in that group chose to purchase the watch and use it at the April ACT. And she achieved the best scores in that study group - composite of 30 (4 point increase) and a perfect score in reading comprehension (5 point increase there). Obviously, I need to collect more data, but I really think this product can be helpful, and I am recommending it to my students in the June 11 ACT study group.

Product came with no directions and set to wrong time. No idea how to set time, set it up for the test. Horrible. I would not recommend this. Very flimsy packaging that wasn't even sealed. I wonder if was used.

It's excellent for practice BUT we *just* returned from my daughter's ACT test and they didn't allow anyone to wear *any* watch at all. This is probably due to the new Apple watches that have internet and texting capability. $50....well it was good for the practice full length ACT to practice pacing.Addendum: I called ACT headquarters (319-337-1270 before her second ACT test and spoke with Natasha. She called the specific center to make sure the proctors allowed silent wristwatches. My daughter was allowed to use the watch and improved her score in that section where time was an issue. There is another number they gave me that proctors can call to confirm it if they have doubts on the test day. I'd also download the rules from the ACT website for your student to show the proctor if they don't allow it, but I don't know if the student would want to risk making the proctor mad. My daughter refused to challenge the proctor because the ones she's had, all were sort of rude

Just curious, did anyone receive a watch with a full battery? Mine just arrived and it’s nearly dead. Not cool.

Number one thing is that it is accepted by the college board and you can wear it while testing unlike other stop watches. Next is that it is preset minutes already loaded in that shows how much time you have and the time you have left to complete the current project. And finally you can use it while you practice, so get it early, to keep you on track. No distractions, no fiddly instructions, just set it for the next test, stay focused and continue on...

Worth every penny! I called ACT directly to find out if the watch was allowed during testing because there were some mixed comments on this site. ACT said as long as the device does not make any noise it would be fine. The watch and timer make absolutely no noise. Using it helped pace my son which helped secure the score he was looking for.
