I wanted an ADK chair in red cedar that was comfortable and affordable (there are many on etsy too, but more expensive and with more variable quality). I tend to be a harsh adjudicator of the things I buy, so you can trust that this is a no frills review.Pros:wood quality was good (few knots, nice grain, not chipped or scarred, well sanded)the pre-constructed pieces were well put together with good hardwarethe final assembly hardware (carriage and lag bolts, screws, etc) were pretty high quality (and there were extra pieces) -- I anticipate they will last a long timefinal assembly was pretty easy -- as others have noted, you will need a good pair of pliers to hold onto the carriage bolts as you tighten themthe wood took stain well (I used Minwax Gunstock 231) -- now is good time to say -- note that this is an unfinished chair -- you will likely want to stain and/or lacquer it. The finish was good enough out of the box that it did not require any sanding (which was awesome).Cons:one very minor thing, there is a front support bar whose position should be pre-drilled, but it is not. Not a big deal, and maybe it's a 'feature' not a 'bug' since this allows you to slightly adjust how the chair sits in the final construction.Sitting in it -- felt sturdy and was quite comfortable.

Not The Same Chair Other Reviews Describe
I scanned all the Adirondack chairs Amazon offers and chose this one based on all the positive reviews, the overall look of this model and because it's made in the U.S.A.. We have had a number of ADK chairs over the years, so we are very familiar with the look, comfort, and length of life these chairs offer spending some time out in the elements. I bought this chair for my wife's birthday to replace an ADK chair on it's last legs. I received my order in 9 days. When I opened the box, my first impression was how surprisingly light the wood was, but this was my first "folding" type model, and I thought that maybe the type wood was chosen for that quality to make it easier to carry and fold out on location. The assembly was fairly easy, but to assemble the back it does require another person to assist. As I put the chair together I noticed three areas where the wood was checked or splintered, one near a company pre-assembled piece (back leg brace) that could threaten the integrity of the chair and should have been seen by quality control and rejected. The other two were "cosmetic" and not a contact area where the person sitting in the chair could get splinters, but again if this company had any kind of Quality Control Department these pieces would have been rejected. I needed this chair for my wife's birthday so I was somewhat under pressure to continue it's construction, but at that point I was considering sending it back. The cross piece that reinforces the front legs was so light I did a double take - it felt like balsa wood and about as strong. After an hour assembly was completed. The pre-drilled holes lined up well and some contact areas (arms) are sanded so I give it two stars. As much as I'd like to join the others and give a good review of this product, I can not. I question I received the same chair they write about. I'm not being critical strictly based on a few rough split areas in the chair. The wood is too dry. Wood has to have some moisture it for it to be durable, and it especially needs to be durable to withstand the stress of opening and closing that a folding chair would get. The wood had a few small splits (cracks or checks) in it, one on an arm piece. My wife was very surprised and pleased when she saw it on our deck - at first glance it is impressive. I wished I could have been proud to give it to her, but I felt like I was giving her a inferior chair compared to our others. I doubt it's usable lifespan. My wife admitted to me after sitting in it for a while it was not comfortable. The back of the chair leaned back at more of an angle (not adjustable) than our other chairs causing more pressure on the back of her legs where they rest on the front edge. The ottoman helped if she planted her feet on the top of the ottoman to lift her legs up but that's not sitting the way the chair is designed. My wife is not overweight so this is not a size issue. My wife wanted me to send it back when she heard what I paid for it, and that's where it gets tricky. The manufacturer will replace defective parts but will not accept returns unless it is unassembled, in original box and you pay return shipping. I plan to write the manufacturer and send photos of all the faulty cracked pieces. I'm not looking for any compensation but want them to know they can not survive if they keep sending out a low quality defective product. I am extremely disappointed with this product and I am usually very easy to please. When you buy an ADK chair, you expect it to last many seasons. The one I use now is 11 years old and may have to be replaced this Fall. Possibly my wife's "new" chair as well. They will NOT be purchased from this company.

Good Value. Not great, but certainly good for the price.
Chairs assembled reasonably well - required some small modification of the Ottoman leg - no big deal. They are comfortable, although difficult to get out of. The recline position is a little too far back, which can easily be remedied by drilling an additional set of holes on the arms and adjusting them up a bit. Chairs fold easily. We haven't sealed/finished them and are still debating about whether to do it or not - the wood seems a little open-grained to be left outside exposed to the elements without a finish, but seems to be doing ok in our dry CA climate.Overall, a good value.

Beautiful craftsmanship
I bought a set of two of these chairs, and I absolutely LOVE them. I finished them with lots of sanding and a Minwax oil-based stain (I forget which one), and they are absolutely stunning. Took a long time to complete, but totally worth it. They are sturdy, although not as sturdy as some non-folding Adirondack chairs I've sat in. They do fold up nicely though. The craftsmanship is beautiful, I've gotten a lot of compliments on them. Not to mention that they're extremely comfortable; perfect for a book and a cup of coffee. I look forward to years of ownership.

I researched adirondak chairs like crazy and settled on these for the price and good reviews. Agree with all, they lean back way too much. We have to add extra wood to fix that. The folding is nice. These are light. I wish I would have spent more and just got the real deal

We love the chairs
We love the chairs. We gave them a good sanding and stain. Had no trouble assembling them. Good quality for the price . We would definitely buy them again . There ware a few minor flaws In the wood but sanding took care of that.

Quality Product
I purchased this as a birthday gift for my significant other. It took him a while to assemble, but the chair is sturdy, attractive, comfortable and of very good quality. One thing I did not realize prior to purchasing is that the manufacturer strongly recommends staining or painting the item to preserve the wood. All said, I would definitely recommend this product.
