Relevant to all grades, K - 12!
This book will make you re-think your teaching of those tricks. But don't be discouraged! It also helps you make the necessary changes.

Disappointed
Very disappointed in this book upon arrival. The “tricks” are so outdated and most unheard of. The explanations are quick and lack clarity. It’s a book for basic low level laymans. Not even book worthy….

everyone would do better throughout their math career
If you teach math you should read this book. If more teachers taught the real way to solve the problem and not a trick, everyone would do better throughout their math career.

A must read
This book is essential for any math teacher or leader. Teaching students tricks and shortcuts robs them of the conceptual developments and eliminates the option for them to make generalizations themselves. This book highlights common tricks that are taught and what to do instead.
