Great Torch Attachment for Sous Vide
I am very pleased with the results this product produces. When used accordingly, it provides an excellent sear on food cooked sous vide. I'm using it with a TS8000 and propane, although though they recommend MAP-PRO gas which burns slightly hotter. It may seem pricy for what it is, but it is worth it, and does a better job than the competition--which is more expensive.I highly recommend this product for everyone that cooks sous vide. Here is my method for steaks:Immediately transfer the steak from the sous vide bath into one with ice water and cool for a couple minutes.Remove from vacuum/Ziploc bag and thoroughly pat dry. At this time, melt a small amount of butter.Once the surface of the strak is dry, start torching, using the tip of the flame (about 2-3 inches from the tip of the Searteq) torch the meat for 15-30 seconds, slowly moving the flame around the surface of the meat. Flip, pat dry, and repeat the torching process. Try to hit the sides as well on both flips. At this point, there should be a light sear starting to develop. Using a spoon, drizzle some of the melted butter over the meat and torch both sides for another 15-30 seconds each. This additional process really ups the flavor and crust with the maillard reaction.

Uncomplicated yet highly effective searing torch accesory
Fits great with Berzonatics ts8000. It spreads the flame wide and with Map gas it does not lend any off flavor at all. Im very happy with the performance, simple uncomplicated design, quality stainless steel, but it is a a little pricy for what it is.

Little pricey but works well enough
Feels overpriced with how simple of a device this is. Just a ring with a hole, a screw, and the cowbell piece. That said, it does it's job fairly well and takes 2-3 minutes each side. Quick, dirty, and convenient for when I don't want to start the weber or smoke up the house with my cast iron, although the results are not as good.

Easy to use, but not great for Sous Vide finishing
I wanted an easier way to sear than pan or grill searing a finished sous vide meal. Sure you can just use a good torch, but you don't want the torch to get near the horizontal position and blow liquid propane on your food. That is where a diverter like this comes into play. This has great reviews and I tried it. I already had the recommended propane torch (Bernzomatic 8000). Installation is easy and the product seems to be of reasonable quality. I did have to bend the diverter down a little more than it was in the package. It does work, and perha.ps as well as any other propane torch add on. It does not work as well as the dedicated sous vide torches, but will do the job

Really really good sear
I've used this on both pork and steak, and both have produced really good results. To get a nice even sear, I recommend the following:1. Pat dry the food with a paper towel.2. Apply a thin coat of high heat oil or clarified butter.3. Light the torch away from the food and let it burn for about 5 seconds to avoid propane taste.4. Go back and forth rather than trying to get one bit brown before moving onto the next. This allows better control over the color, since it's more of a gradual increase rather than an intense burst of heat.

Pleasantly Surprised
I rarely leave reviews but for this item I’m going to make the exception. I do a lot sous vide cooking so I’m always on the lookout for the latest gadget that will help with the culinary experience. The ease of use, how quickly it’s sears meat, and that it doesn’t leave any butane-gas-torch taste are definitely the parameters looked for in a searing mechanism. This item definitely covers the aforementioned without question. In comparison to the Searzall which is considerably more, this very simple add-on makes a world of difference when searing meat. There is good control, the flame projects well and were you point it, and most importantly to me, you taste the meat and not the gas used when searing. I would definitely recommend this item hands-down as you will not be disappointed.

Perfect sear
Searing in a cast iron pan on the stove top makes a major mess. Decided to pursue an alternative to sear sous vide proteins and looked at a few options. Decided on this option based on the simple design, no screens to burn out. Installing in the new torch head was simple and took all of three minutes. Within a minute of using this device I was impressed, perfect sear on some really nice steaks. Next some pork chops and tuna fillets again perfect sear, minimum mess and amazing speed. Discoloring of the metal is to be expected since the hood becomes cherry red with prolonged use. Very happy with my decision to buy this device over the more complex and expensive alternative.

The barrel dual use screw was too short
This is to retro fit my torch for searing my Sous Vide cooked meat. A very simple flange a barrel screw, a simple piece of sheet metal and a wing nut. Could not even get that right. In order to make it work I had to break out the tools to bend the sheet metal around the small nozzle of my propane torch in order to get enough thread for wing nut to bite. For the price for something so simple ya still screwed it up. You win though, I will keep it and hate it because of the hassle of returning. After I wrote this I thought it did a poor job. Returning.
