Good protection for your instrument with thoughtful storage for your accessories
Many soft bags in this category have insufficient padding or little to no storage options. This Boulder soft bag uses durable but flexible feeling 600 denier cordura nylon fabric on the exterior with over-stitched seams and durable and smooth zippers with coated draw tabs. The inside uses a softer fabric which won't scratch your instrument's delicate finish. Overall this bags offers good protection and feels like it will last a long time.I liked the multiple nested front pocket arrangement. The large pocket even has smaller dividers, pen holders and a small zip pocket for picks or other small items you wouldn't want to lose or have tumbling around. This was a nice touch.I was also pleasantly surprised to find an additional pocket hidden behind the diagonal retro-reflective stripe on the front of the bag. This slender pocket is just the right size for a couple packets of strings. The webbed side pockets are perfect for tucking in a water bottle or a coiled cable or two - things you might need quick access to at a gig. Overall, I considered the storage options well thought out and far superior to similar bags.Unlike narrow nylon clip on straps most cases come with, these straps are padded and shaped to be very comfortable over longer periods. The caveat is they aren't removable and can get in the way if you don't cinch them up when not in use. I don't recommend cutting off the chest strap because this is useful to keep the straps from flopping around when not in use. If you want to take your instrument on a hike, outdoor festival or other situation where you might be doing a lot of walking, this bag is an excellent choice! The only other quibble I would have is I would prefer a little more stiffness in the seam between the side and back panels. The case tends to flop open and not retain it's shape when unzipped. This makes loading your instrument and zipping it up more awkward than it should be. Cordoba soft cases are excellent in this regard and Boulder should take some notes on those cases and employ a similar design here.

It's a good case, but the size is different than claimed
The description says this is 44 x 19 x 22 inches. However, it is actually a lot smaller, around 28 x 12 x 6. Since I purchased this case for a mandola (not a mandolin) which was 31" long, it was too small so I have to return it. Too bad, because the case is really well made and would have worked well.

Fantastic value
This backpack/gig bag is a great value. It provides plenty of padding protecton for my mandolin, and it has several pockets in which to stow cords, tuners, strap, strings, picks, etc. I particularly like the backpack straps which free up my hands for carrying my guitar, mic stand, and other stuff when going to a gig venue or to practice with the fellers.

Attractive, lightweight travel bag
Great for traveling with your mandolin. Very lightweight and not as bulky as a hard case. Can organize music and supplies in pockets.

Great gig back
Great gig bag, it has loads of pockets for extra plectrums, leads and whatnot. Also has two bag straps on the back so you can wear it like a backpack. It's a little tight to fit in the mandolin with a strap attached but not a dealbreaker.

much more substantial than your average flimsy mando bag. I had a newish Irin one that the zip toggle broke straight away. wish I'd bought this first
