MALARIA CAMPAIGN resource, good read.
I taught Summer Sunday School at my church, using the CATCH THE BUZZ curriculum from the ELCA, about fighting malaria. This book was suggested, and it was wonderful. The children (mixed ages from K through 5th grade) enjoyed it as a part of the MALARIA CAMPAIGN lessons. It was written in such a way that you could use bits and pieces throughout several weeks.

Kids enjoyed the pictures
Kids enjoyed the pictures, but one time through the book & they haven't picked it up again (ages 6,8 &9). Probably better for much younger children. Bought the book to support the cause.

Great for teacher kids about sponsoring a child
Recently we talked about our children's church kids sponsoring a child. To keep them interested in the child's life we needed to tell them about the child's life, home, village, and so forth. Well, Mimi's Village by Katie Smith Milway, is PERFECT to help get the message across. It shares the story of one such child. One that could possibly be adopted by Compassion International or World Vision. It tells about her family traveling a great distance for medical care after her little sister drank bad water. If our family should decide to sponsor a child I will be reading this book to my six year old daughter. I really think it helps paint a picture for our children what it's really like for others. This book was given to me to review by Net Galley.

another triumph in the series
Mimi's Village is part of a growing series by Smith-Milway that successfully celebrates real people and their real-life solutions to seemingly overwhelming problems in the developing world. Each book might be based on real life... but they all feel magical.Lyrically written, with sweet, identifiable characters who offer their tale of straightforward social action that works, Mimi's Village joins One Hen and The Good Garden to appeal to youngsters and engage them in the world around them. Smith-Milway looks for the role models to show our children and make them feel as though they can make a difference. My son read Mimi's Village and immediately became excited about participating in the Global Health campaign the book promotes at the end of the story.I highly recommend it.
