There is an unhealthy mixture of law and grace in this book
There is some good information in this book but unfortunately there is way too much mixture. The author mixes law and grace in this book which can cause a lot of confusion if you don’t understand what covenant your under. One statement at the end of the book on page 189 was most disturbing. The author writes about conditional prophecy and says that we’ve been given free will by God to make a choice, which He will never violate yet he ends this statement with saying that “if we don’t adhere to a prophetic word given to us” “then we will incur judgment for disobeying the word given”. And he ends His point with giving an Old Testament example of Israel in how they hardened their hearts towards God’s word and then died. First off we are not Israel and we are not under the Old Covenant (law) we are gentiles under the New Covenant of (grace) which means every born again Christian has the Holy Spirit in them and this has drastically changed everything! The function of the Old Covenant does not apply to us because we are under a completely new covenant based on Jesus finished work on the cross. After reading too many judgment statements against the body of Christ in this book, I just couldn’t retain anything good that was said, and I just ended up throwing this book away. Yes. Extreme but that’s how not helpful it was.

A must-read for the prophetic
Larry Randolph is a high level prophet and my hand reaches for the pen every time he opens his mouth. User Friendly Prophecy is foundational for those growing in the prophetic. The biggest take-home message for me was how to get better at prophecy without causing unnecessary damage to the people in my life. Here are a few concepts I read about:* Establishing intimacy and relationship with God before we start representing him to others* Getting better at prophecy through practice, and not being afraid to make mistakes* Start out with encouraging prophecies where mistakes can be made, but hold off giving direction/correction where mistakes have consequencesI'm also really glad this was available on the kindle, because I read the entire book on my iPod touch while on the go.

Better than I thought it would be!
Very human :) anyone that has not read a book on prophecy I would strongly suggest making this your first read. There is some very practical and godly inside here. A bit of a roadmap to help start this gifting in the right direction. I was pleasantly surprised upon my first reading. I will be reading this at least one more time in the near future.

Practical, balanced and helpful
Larry Randolph gives great advice on this delicate subject. Tactfully and carefully he explains what prophecy is, that it still happens, and guidelines for how to prophesy in a helpful and encouraging way. It was heartening to see the author, himself a prophet, address difficult issues, such as "weird behavior" and how to deal with.
