Edge Products 85100 Evolution CS Programmer

I can say that the installation and the computer update was very easy for this. Now, this is the reason why I gave 4 stars instead of 5. When you want to reprogram the power level (going from stock to econony, etc.), you need to be sure any power draining source in the truck is eliminated. The reprogramming should have only taken about a half hour, but this ended up taking me about 6 hours because when programming fails to reprogram, it must program your vehicle back to stock, which seemed to take a little less than an hour to do this. I went through this cycle 5 times!!!! And, I was getting frustrated and was going to call Edge support Monday (since they are closed on the weekends). However, I read through the troubleshooting list of failure to reprogram, and it mentioned removing the fuse to the radio might solve this problem. So, I did this along with canceling my easy exit seat (so that it wouldn't move forward and backwards everytime the key was turned off and on so that it would not draw any current load) and shutting off the interior lights so that they would not be on when the door was opened. After doing this, the reprogram was successful on the first try to economoy mode!!! I just wish they would have stated this as the first instruction before the start of installation. After an afternoon of driving my diesel truck in economy, it does appear that I am getting a few extra miles per gallon, but I will need more data points with continued driving. I am very much liking the product now that the installation nightmare is over.

Worth every penny! I know everything I need to know about my 6.0L Powerstroke Turbo Diesel in real time now. Guys, if you have ever asked yourself "man, I really wish I knew how this or that was operating on my truck" you really need to purchase this product. I highly recommend it to 6.0L powerstrke owners. The 6.0L's computer has a lot of information that is simply not available to you without this product. The gauges are limited on the dash of the truck but with this you can monitor up to 8 at a time and they are easy to read, too. If you own a 6.0L, you are probably aware of the oil cooler issues the 6.0L experiences. Without the Edge, I had no idea where I stood in terms of my oil cooler. I now know my temps are operating where they should and am not worried anymore about an unexpected blown head gasket. I keep my oil and coolant temp gauges up at all times. The only bad news is that I now know I am not getting as good of gas mileage as I thought. 6.0L owners, again, this product is worth the money. Even if all you will use it for is monitoring your temps to ensure preventative maintenance, it could save you money on very costly repairs. A bad oil cooler = $500-$800 but a blown head gasket is around $5,000. Knowledge is power.

So this programmer comes already to go, I would recommend plugging it into the computer, the update takes 45 min to an hour...I put this on a 2011 Dodge Ram 3500 DRW 6.7 Cummins (bone stock) . I was so impressed, You talk about waking up a cummins....! Everyone knows that a cummins 6.7 is bulletproof but it comes from the factory so bogged down and only producing about 50% of what it is capable of. I pull a 3 car hauler with this truck and it pulls it just not as stout as I needed it to. After installing this, and nothing else (e.g exhaust, intake) I can hook onto a loaded trailer and climb any highway hill that you put in front of it and not loose speed. If you have been researching tuners, you have found that everyone has an opinion and they are all different, Edge is a well known brand and this is a solid tuner. I miss the "adjust on the fly" feature, but I saved over $1000 by buying this one (thats z 5" exhaust and a cold air intake)

I bought this chip to help with fuel mileage on my '07 Duramax. It actually worked - unlike the exhaust mod. I gained between 1.5 and 2 mpg using it the first two tanks of fuel.Easy to install, of course. Just plug in and mount the display.Price was better than expected for this type of programmer, but I had no need for the higher priced deluxe displayThe only con was the "towing" setting - seemed cumbersome and didn't mesh well with the tow setting on the truck

I purchased this just before a long trip to Georgia. Thinking it would pay for itself on the trip and help in the long term. I installed it the day before we left. The next day you could tell a difference in performance and mileage from the start. My issues started after about four hours of driving. We stopped for fuel and I noticed an electrical light came on on the gauges. I kept going and didn't notice a difference. We stopped and got a room in El Paso that night. The next morning I woke up and the truck barely started like it was dead. A little while later the truck didn't start at all. I had to get a jump. 300 feet after the jump every light on the dash came on and the truck stopped in the middle of the intersection. I had get pulled out of the way. A battery later the truck ran fine for 50 miles until all of the gauges came in again. I was stranded with my wife and kids in the middle of nowhere a mile from the Mexico border. A border patrol agent helped us get to a gas station a few miles away. Still 60 miles from any town. After five hours and dealing with a horrible customer service from Edge who is only open M-F till 5pm I managed to get the truck reset by disconnecting both batteries and removing the programmer. The truck started right up. My batteries where fine and we continued our trip racking up 3000+ more miles without issue. I'll never buy another Edge product. The product sucked and their customer service was worse.
