You're better off with the original book.
This is just a rehash of Akers' original withOUT all the personal wisdom and insight that Akers shared with the reader, which is what made his books the best coin guides around. There's very little in this book that isn't readily available on the internet. Look for the original...it's just a better book.

Book was Damaged
All in all, a decent book except for the fact that it appeared USED when I ordered it as brand new. Dog eared on the edges.

An unbiased description of a fine revision
This second edition of David W. Akers' groundbreaking work A Handbook of 20th-Century United States Gold Coins: 1907-1933 goes well beyond a simple rewriting of Akers' original manuscript. It is also much more than an edit--it is a complete and thorough revision that corrects, updates and expands the information presented in the first edition. The relative rarity rankings of each issue in the various 20th century U.S. gold series have been brought up to date in light of recent discoveries and revised grading standards. Additionally, the analysis of each individual issue is greatly enhanced with far greater attention paid to important characteristics such as strike, luster and color. In-depth analyses of each proof issue in the 20th century U.S. gold series have also been added--something that was completely absent from the first edition. Pedigree listings of some of the more important examples of each issue have also been sorted out and br ought up to date. In sum, this revised and expanded edition of A Handbook of 20th-Century United States Gold Coins provides the reader with all of the tools they need to buy and sell these special coins in the numismatic market of the 21st century. It is a thoroughly researched, well written and lucid appraisal that has been long overdue.
