Tuningsworld Steering Gear Box Assembly for EZGO TXT Golf Cart 1994-2001 ST350 Workhorse 1996-UP 70314-G01

This should be a breeze to install for a young person. I'm 82 and did it in less than an hour after first removing the original days ahead. My cart reached a point where the steering wheel would not engage while turning left at random times. Backing up and turning opposite direction would resolve the issue temporarily. As noted by another reviewer, be careful installing the uppermost bolt to avoid cross threading into cast aluminum. Perfect fit, very satisfied.

Just bolt in! What's not to like?

For some reason, the holes didn't line up as well as I would have liked. One hole that was threaded on the original is a through hole in this unit, thus requiring an additional bolt, lock washer and nut. I think several buyers mentioned this. Initially, the grease zerks weren't accessable, but I found that swapping two of them fixed that issue. Cart now steers well without any slop.

There was a dead spot in the steering on a old used EZGO I got for the family. This steering gearbox was not the cheapest offered, but It was perfect and bolted in noprob (with a helper to start the fourth bolt next to the steering column) which holds it in approximate final position and enables alignment and installation of the remainder of the bolts. Yay.

Wish I could show photo, but I didn't realize until after I got the unit bolted up, that the holes for the tie rod ends to go in were both too large and one was even counter-bored on the back side of the control arm to the point where I had to fabricate tapered sleeves to fit over the TRE shafts in order to get the nuts to draw them tight. I would have returned the unit and bought a different one but it was way too much work getting it in by myself. I read many reviews and this one seemed to have better overall, but is typical chinese crap with poor quality control. One of the 90 degree grease zerks was 180 degrees off and unable to be corrected without stripping/leaking so future lubing is impossible. Don't waste your time or money, no idea how long my cobble-job will even hold up.
