Works great to program a GOTEK with FlashFloppy!
It's true, this really has a genuine FTDI FT232RL IC. Why is this important? First, aside from "FTDI-gate" the reputation of FTDI being more reliable than Prolific chips I've experienced firsthand. And second, no driver surprises with fake FTDI or having quality control issues with bad ICs.I bought this to program FlashFloppy firmware onto a GOTEK floppy emulator. So glad I purchased DSD TECH brand because compared to the ones selling for half the cost elsewhere you get so much more. For instance you get a quality case, a mini USB cable, and some DuPont cable. Plus help is there if you need it. Which reminds me, if you also need the 128*32 OLEDs, DSD TECH sells them too! [Beats waiting a month to get them from you know where.]

Works well, sturdy design
After seeing a lot of bad reviews for programmers which don't use the real FTDI chip, I decided to pay an extra $3-5 to get this one based on the other reviews. There's a reason this board gets such good reviews. The plastic case makes it easy to hold without worrying about damaging the board, and the instructions are very straightforward. Set the jumper to the correct voltage for txd/rxd for your board, attach the wires, and plug it in. I did not measure the current supply, but one board I was using it with kept complaining about "brown out condition detected". It could be my laptop's USB port though. Just keep in mind that you might have to power the board you are programming from a separate source.

Excellent USART for microcontrollers
this is a great serial controller. It can be configured between 3.3v and 5v. I am using this as a debugger for my microcontroller ( STM32 and ESP32 ) projects. I built a custom harness with the jumper integrated so I don’t worry about overloading my chips. I love that It has leds for transmitting and receiving. I am using this primarily as a debugger which I use SERIAL ( Mac app ) and it simply works ( no driver installs, just plug and play ). just remember that the TX on your board will connect to the RX on the receiver.

Great tool
I have a GPS module that worked but not to its full capability. I needed this device to connect the module to my computer and use the free UBlox application to test it. It worked great for a modest price and answered my questions about the module problem. It was a sensitivity issue. Most likely I had been careless with handling the module. It comes in a conductive bag. I handled the device without dissipating static electricity first. Inputs on these modules have very high gain and are sensitive to the touch.

Finally!
Finally one of these that works as promised, and works on win10. Finally have my ATmega communicating with my PC.Comes with instructions a monkey could follow to install the drivers, and does what you expect. Switching from 3.3 to 5v or vice versa is easily done with moving the jumper. The second included jumper to tie Rx and TX is really convenient as well so you can verify it does work.

ALDL Cable
Finally a cable that works!!! I used this to connect my laptop to my GM TBI 16197427 ECM for datalogging. This adapter comes with a clear plastic case, ribbon cable, and USB cable. I ran the data and ground wires straight off the ECM harness to this module bypassing the ALDL connector and eliminating the need for an ALDL plug (I added my own 2 pin connector for that). after figuring out the drivers I have a solid connection with no errors being thrown.A note on drivers. I first downloaded the newest FTDI Drivers (2.12.08) from the FTDI website like the instructions say and it connected to TunerPro for a second and then started throwing a ton of error codes (I tried that on Win7 and Win10), that was a no go. I switched to the older drivers (you ca search Moates for the 2.08.24 drivers) and everything worked flawlessly. FYI on Win10, if you first install the newest drivers and then try to switch to the older ones, I ran into troubles with that. Win10 kept restoring the first set of drivers I installed so I had to search for a fix for that.Great cable, Thank you DSD Tech, alright it's time to go for another drive and do some more datalogging!!!

Genuine chip, different voltage levels, works great
I used it to reprogram a Curtis controller with no issues. I liked having the pin headers so I could rearrange the wires if I was wrong. The kit came with USB cable and a header cable. Even had a plastic case for the board. Worked great.
