Does this crimping tool also crimp cat6 cable?

Yes, I used it solely on cat6. The tool does a great job.

The battery is not included in the tester,what type of battery is required?

First the tester is a joke the slector switch broke the first time I switched it. Then could smell burnt electrical smell. I took it apart because it was no longer working just to see what happened. Broke switch caused circuit board to short out. So beware. The rest of the tool kit is of decent quality. Now to answer the question to takes a 9V battery. Hope this helps.
